Computer Science Education Week, December 7 to 12, 2020

Celebrate Computer Science Education Week 2020 with DeepBrains AI & Robotics!

Every innovator (student) deserves the opportunity to experience, advance, and succeed in computer science!

Computer Science Education Week is held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (Born December 9, 1906).

Computer Pioneer

Grace Brewster Murray Hopper (née Murray December 9, 1906 – January 1, 1992) was an American computer scientist and United States Navy rear admiral. One of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer, she was a pioneer of computer programming who invented one of the first linkers.

Hopper was involved in the creation of UNIVAC, the first all-electronic digital computer. She invented the first computer compiler, a program that translates written instructions into codes that computers read directly. This work led her to co-develop the COBOL, one of the earliest standardized computer languages.

Computer Science Education

Computer science education is the science and art of teaching and learning of computer science, computing and computational thinking.

Compared to science and mathematics education, Computer science education is a much younger field. Computer science has been a part of the school curricula from age 14 or 16 in a few countries for a few decades. However, computer science is typically an elective subject. Children must use problem-solving and critical thinking skills as they learn programming.

As we live in a digital age, most industries rely on data and software programmes. Computer Science Education impacts everything, from scientific research to health development, transport, banking, communications, and more.

Coding and Robotics can develop the next generation of gadgets or software programmes which will improve the lives of millions of people.

So let us inspire K-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of the students and teachers community!

Here is a challenge from us. We will publish a quiz daily (from Dec 7-12). Winners (top 3) will receive upto 50% off Winter Break Camp from DeepBrains Robotics and NativeLingo IntelliLab!

DeepBrains AI & Robotics is hosting FREE online workshop for Computer Science Education Week (Dec 7 – 13). Register Now.
